Post Christmas Week

Happy Post-Christmas week to you!
This is a week, that can be so enjoyable for you and your weebles. You might be staying with family or hosting. Perhaps this is a few days where you are all at home and don't have a lot of responsibilities.
(except clean up from Christmas)
For us, the next few days are all about printing off activities from
http://www.confessionsofahomeschooler.com/ and other sites.
We will be getting back to some basics at home.
Working on routines, discipline and doing lots of one on one time.
I love just being able to spend quality time with Miss B and Mr C , not just rushing from one event to the other.
These are the moments they will remember.
This week, each day I will be sharing some simple bonding activities to do with your kids. They might be science oriented, art or just fun.
So here is

DAY ONE

Here is a fun activity to do with all your Christmas cards that are hanging up.
Your young kids will love it!  I was also thinking, this could be a fun Christmas Gift when given as part of a a learning pack to a child. A basket of fun for learning.

Christmas Card Puzzles 

1. Choose Christmas Cards and place on a scrapbook cutter and cut into desired sections 

2. Help your child put them together.

Gingerbread Men Fun

I got foam cut-outs from the dollar store. Add in some 99cent store puffy paint and away we went!
I attached a magnetic strip to his back and now we have Christmas fridge flair!

Gingerbread Vests

Hi I'm Cayt W from Caytw: Homeschool Mom, My good friend  Mrs. David, or Mrs. Dave as I like to call her, invited me to share some of the fun and crafts that go on in my neck of the woods.  And next week should be full of both fun and crafts.

I am taking the month off of school books and focusing on Christmas.  The first weeks theme will be "Gingerbread Baby!"  The adorable book by Jan Brett is a family favorite.  My younger daughter will get to use this Lapbook by Homeschool Creations.  And I will probable use more than a few ideas from Homeschool Share.

But the activity I am looking forward to the most is the one I came up with on my own. Gingerbread Vests!

The hardest part of making these vests was turning the bag inside out (so I wouldn't see stores name.)  I of course didn't take any pictures of that step but you can find a great "how to" at this link for Indian vests just skip the fringe step.

Once your bag is a vest all you have to do is decorate it.

 We used foam shapes (left over from Valentines Day)

 and poof balls,

  and lace.

Charry (age 6) stuck to a color scheme and pattern 

Merry (age 3) did not.

They both had so much fun I am looking forward to the repeat next week, this time with a few cousins making theirs too.
